Understanding What is Rejection and How To Deal With Rejection
Rejection – to be cast aside, thrown away as having no value. To refuse to receive; to refuse to accept; to do away with, to set aside; To reject someone means to refuse, shun, turn away from.
When you experience rejection you may feel unwanted, unaccepted, or unloved. Know that you are already loved and accepted by God.
Ephesians 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Do not let any past rejection define who you are or determine your future.
Isaiah 43:18 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old.
In other words forget the former things; and do not dwell on the past.
Jesus felt the pain of rejection on several accounts in his earthly life.
Isaiah 53:3 He is despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
John 1:11 He came to His own and His own did not receive Him.
Because God has given each of us a free will, we may choose to receive or reject the Word of God and even God himself.
Jeremiah 8:9 The wise men are ashamed, They are dismayed and taken.
Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD; So what wisdom do they have?
Mathew 21:42 Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.
Jesus is our example in how to face, deal and overcome rejection. We can draw from Jesus’ life and wisdom and allow that to be your strength.
Rejection starts as a seed that has been planted in your life through different things that have happened to you.
A seed then is develop into a root then it becomes a tree. Whatever is your root will eventually determine your fruit.
A person with a root of rejection will often operate out of an emotional deficiency.
Perceptions may not be their reality. Just because you feel rejected does not mean that you are.
Walls people put up prevent involvement or blockage. Walls are designed to divide and separate.
Walls of Protection – After Experiencing Feelings Of Being Rejected
People say you are not going to hurt ever again. God wants to be your wall. You can trust God not only as your physical protector but also as your emotional protector. Isa. 26:1-3 (amp.)
Wrong Rejection Protection Patterns
1. Inner Vows- nobody will ever hurt me again. I will never get close enough to get hurt again. Nobody will tell me what to do.
2. Pretense- Pretend we don’t care. “It does not bother me”.
3. Self Defense- with revenge, “I will teach you something”, or anger – either explosive or passive aggressive, silent treatment.
4. Verbal Defense – try to convince the person or others that you are alright. Jesus did not spend time trying to defend himself to others that he is right. He walked in love. I Pet. 2:23: Psalm 7:10 Let my actions of my heart speak in line with the scriptures.
Wisdom Keys To Overcome Rejection
We must be rooted in acceptance and love from God our Father. We need to be rooted and grounded in love. God loves you and He is always for you.
Just because someone rejected you does not mean that everyone rejects you. Jesus loves you, no matter what others choose to do.
John 15:9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
Just because someone choose to withhold their love from you doesn’t mean everyone will withhold their love from you. God will always love and He will never withhold His love from you.
Jeremiah 31:3 The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love;
Therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you.
Just because someone rejected you does not mean you should condemn yourself or not like yourself.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Just because someone rejected you does not mean you should start acting in a very self sabotaging and destructive manner. It does not give you a license to do wrong.
Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
Your future is brighter than your past. Think and plan your next victory. Keep moving forward!
