Do You Have Any Zeal In Your Life?
What Are Your Zealous About?
Zeal is defined as passionate ardor in the pursuit of anything. In general, zeal is an eagerness or desire to accomplish or obtain some object, and it may be manifested either in favor or any person or thing.
David a young shepherd boy was zealous about defeating the Giant Goliath. Guess what? He ran towards him and defeated him with his slingshot and stones.
Jesus was zealous about fulfilling his mission in life. In John 2:17 Jesus stated “Zeal for your house has eaten me up.” God is zealous and passionate to save mankind from the wrath to come. God sent his only Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we can have eternal life and abundant life with Jesus Christ.
It is my desire you become if you not already are zealous in your discovery and fulfilling your purpose for existence. Life is a gift from God. You and I were not born to live average lives. We are born to live amazing lives and leave a legacy in the earth. Life is more than just this physical or natural realm of existence. That is one dimensional. We are three dimensional. Mankind is triparte. We are a spirit we have a soul and we live in a body. The Bible states in I Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So it is great to be passionate about being physically fit. Eating healthy. Exercising several days a week. Our bodies are the temple of God. (I Corinthians 3:16) We are instructed to Glorify God in our body. (I Corinthians 6:19-20). The scripture also states that Man does look on the outward appearance. I Samuel 16:7.
Bodily exercise does bring us profit. For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. I Timothy 4:8
You can be the most physically fit person in the universe and in one moment an unexpected crisis can bring a blow that your physical fitness cannot do anything about. God never intended for us to live one dimensional.
Be zealous about your physical life as well as your soulish and spiritual life. Your soul is made up of your mind, will, intellect, and imagination. It is very important to feed your soul the Word of God. To increase your knowledge base so when life’s challenge come we won’t buckle under, quit, and give up. Proverbs 24:10 states If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. What can cause people to faint in life? Not having adequate or sufficent knowledge in that area of struggle. Proverbs 24:5 stated A wise man is strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
In school if a person only got 30% correct on a exam and the maximum is 100% it’s not that they didn’t know anything. They just did not know enough to pass the exam. Jesus even commanded us to love God not only with our heart but also with all of our soul and mind. Be zealous about expanding your mind and using it to a greater degree than ever before. I see you not being stuck or stranded in any situation. You have the mind of Christ. (Philippians 2:5).
Be zealous about your spiritual life. Natural food is needed for your physical body. Spirit food is needed for your spirit (heart). Jesus said in Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Feed yourself daily by reading, reflecting, and meditating on the Word of God.
Jesus was the greatest example of three aspects of our wellbeing. Luke 2:40 And the child grew, (physical)and waxed strong in spirit, (inward man) filled with wisdom:(soul) and the grace of God was upon him.
Be zealous in every aspect of your life. Whatever you do, do it heartily as to the Lord, and not unto man. Colossians 3:23
Everyone becomes a X loser when they give their hearts to Jesus Christ. The biggest loser is the enemy. Jesus defeated the enemy at Calvary.
Colossians 2:14-15 Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
When you receive Christ in your life you were translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light.
Colossians 1:12-13 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
The Enemy’s Kingdom which is the kingdom of darkness represents defeat, fear, failure, guilt, shame, sickness, disease, hatred, and every evil thing.
Jesus’ Kingdom represents love, life, light, peace, victory, joy, health, wisdom, and every good thing.
So any loses you experienced in the past do not define you. Because that is not who God made you. Simply because the Bible states in I John 5:4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
You become a born winner. There is no failure and no defeat in God. As a matter fact God does not have any fear to give us. There are many scriptures in the Bible that speak of victory.
II Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.
Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
With God all things become new. I encourage you to live a winner’s life, by getting a picture(s) of who you desire to become and do in life. Learn the principles of God’s Word to guide you toward your desired result. Practice the principles daily and allow your life to be transformed. That will bring you fulfillment and God honor in your life.
A yield sign indicates that a driver must prepare to come to a full stop and yield to vehicles, cyclists, and pedestrians and vehicles with the right-of-way if either are present. If neither is present, the driver may proceed without stopping. If you are assuming it will be clear and it isn’t, you’ll stop late and perhaps block part of their path or perhaps have your vehicle struck by another vehicle. The point I am making is we must not ignore the “yield” signs.
However in life we must not stay in the fast lane so much that we miss God’s divine signals to yield and we keep going fast. What will happen, you will miss something very important that you need to know in this season of your life. I felt impressed to do an acronym on the word “yield”. I trust it will help you to remember not to miss your moment or take advantage of the moment God has created for you.
Y – Yes to start everyday with God in prayer and reading His Word. God would love to reveal to you what you need for that day if you slow down to ask Him. Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
I – Inquire of the Lord as often as needed. Don’t go through your day making assumptions about issues of life. James 4:3You have not because you ask not. Prayer is constant dialogue with the Lord. Prayer is all day living. Ask the Lord how you should handle this situation? How shall you respond to this issue? The Lord will show you.
E- Eyes. Keep your eyes fastened on the Word. Your solution is in Word. Psalms 34:4 They looked to Him and were radiant, And their faces were not ashamed.
L- Listen. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word. You have to listen in order to have faith to find entrance into your heart. Proverbs 8:33-35 Hear instruction and be wise, And do not disdain it. 34 Blessed is the man who listens to me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.35 For whoever finds me finds life, And obtains favor from the LORD;
D- Doer. After you have slowed down enough to hear and receive the relevant Word for your situation. Then put your foot on your faith pedal and accelerate in completing your task, assignment, and goal.
James 1:25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
What is in the Word? First I want you know The Word is the Word of God or the Bible. To answer the question the Word contain solutions for life. The Word of God is God’s love letter to mankind. The Word is a timeless book. The Word of God is the master key of life. It is a manual. It is a “how to” book. Whatever your needs or challenges are you can discover how to handle what you are experiencing in life. Solutions for marriage, family challenges, wisdom for life, parenting, finances, peace, restoration, health, business, just to name a few topics.
You may feel like that man who was reading a passage but needed someone to give him understanding. Acts 8: It is my prayer that God will lead you to the right place where you can get sound biblical answers to your questions in life.
It is also my prayer that before you read the Bible you should pray “Lord open up my eyes that I may see wonderful things out of your law(Word.)Psalms 119:18 It is also my prayer as you sit down you will make discoveries in God’s Word that whatever you lost will be recovered. Proverbs 24:14
The Word of God carries God’s life. When the Word of God comes into your life it begins to transform you. Your quality of life is upgraded.
II Peter 1:4 by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Word of God carries God’s power. John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave them power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
God’s Word is God’s power in print.
The Word of God carries God’s Wisdom. Wisdom is correct application of knowledge.
II Timothy 3:15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
Word of God carries God’s peace. The more knowledge of the truth of God’s Word you have, the more peace you will enjoy.
II Peter 1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord,
There is much more than the four areas I mention. I trust the four areas I address encouraged you.
When I think of the word vision I think of a mental image of a preferable future. Vision is how things could or should be. It is very essential to capture the vision for your life .
The Word of God states in Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God].Amplified Bible.
If a person does not have a God given vision for their life they are apt to live unfulfilled lives. Not only that the word “perish” means to be strip of honor and dignity. That is not God’s plan for you and I. I suggest the best place to go to discover your God given vision, or what you should be doing now in this season of your life is praying to God.
God is the source of your life.You are made in His image and His likeness.
Every good and perfect gift comes from Him. Your gifts, talents, personality come from God. What things you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. Mark 11:24
Ask and it shall be given you; seek and you shall find; knock and the door shall be open unto you. Matthew 7:7
Ask God to show you what He has for you to do. Break it down in a manageable size. Your vision for the week, monthly, quarterly, 6 months, 1yr, and the list goes on.
Jeremiah 33:3 Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.
You pray specifically and God will show you what you need to know of your God given vision assignment.
Then write the vision, read it often, pray, and pursue . Habakkuk 2:2-3
I will love for you to share with me your vision. I will be praying for you.
There is a time to speak and there is a time to listen. We are also instructed to be swift to hear and slow to speak. I encourage you to take some quiet time to reflect on your accomplishments. Great things will come out of your quiet time this year. Quietness is a great price, it shall be your strength, and you will not be easily distracted.
I Peter 3:4
But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
Isaiah 30:15 For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength:
I Thessalonians 4:11
And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
Get quiet and not allow yourself to become easily distracted. If you want to be defeated then become distracted. If you focus on the distraction it will become your main attraction. Don’t focus on what you don’t have, but use what you do have. Put feet to your faith. You will have great accomplishments.
Knock Knock Who’s There? – Jesus. And you say Jesus?
What are you going you to do when Jesus is knocking on the door of your heart? Are you going to let him in or are you going to close the door and leave him standing on the outside of your heart?
I say respond and let love in your heart. Jesus is love. When you embrace His love your life becomes more beautiful and colorful. Let Him in and start afresh and anew. You will be glad that you did. He can do more for you, through you, and with you, than you living life apart from Him. Because It is written, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
When you welcome The Word you are welcoming Jesus in your heart. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1
For this reason we also thank God without ceasing, because when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which also effectively works in you who believe. I Thessalonians. 2:13
Jesus stated in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
Let Jesus come in every area of your heart so you can experience abundant life.
The 1828 Webster Dictionary Defines the word “diligent” as steady in application to business; constant in effort or exertion to accomplish what is undertaken;
Proverbs 22:29 See thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings;….. (KJV).
Diligence can also be defined as:
Diligence means simply hard and smart work in order to obtain a reward.
Ecclesiastes 10:10 If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge,
Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.
Diligence is whatever God called you to do, it with all your might.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
Diligence involves investing your abilities, strengths, and everything you have into the pursuit of your mission.
Diligence is persistence, constant, earnest effort to complete an assignment or task.
Diligence is the platform for excellence. II Peter 1:3 (Amp.)
Excellence can be defined as attention to detail that gives rise to superior performance that causes promotion in life.
Sow the seed of diligence and you will reap a great harvest. II Corinthians 9:6
Diligence begins with your thoughts but lived out in actions.
Be determined and be diligent in all your undertakings this year.
Whatever you face today, this week, this month, and this year you have been designed by God to overcome it. God’s grace and his wisdom is made available to you. By faith access your solutions from God’s Word to face and to overcome it. Overcomers are those who do not avoid unpleasant situations but deal with the challenges head on.
The scripture states For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. I John 5:4
What ‘s in the world is fear, doubt, unbelief, etc. See yourself winning and not losing in life.
Believe that God loves you and that He is for you. Romans 8:31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Let God and His Word be your confidence and you will rise to the occasion and you will come out on top.
Proverbs 3:25-26 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; For the LORD will be your confidence, And will keep your foot from being caught.
Look at every obstacle as an opportunity to overcome. God’s grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in your weakness. II Corinthians 12:9
Do not call your case, crisis, challenge special call it common. Watch God show you your answer and bring you through it.
No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. I Corinthians 10:13
Praying for you.
Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.
Definition of Understanding:
The ability to comprehend, insight, to discern, to distinguish, to separate, To arrange information in a meaningful relationship. Accurate ordering and interpretation of what is known. To be able to see what God is saying to you thorough His Word. There are three aspects of wisdom- Proverbs 24:3-4
Knowledge- the accumulation of data, or information Understanding- organization or the assembly of information Wisdom – the application of knowledge
Given (knowledge)information or facts, the person who understanding is able to discern (to see) and arrange the facts (knowledge) in a meaningful way to be able see the best choice one should make.
Keys To Obtaining Understanding
1. Ask God for an understanding heart. I Kings 3:1-8 You cannot find or connect with God with your head only. You also connect with God with your heart. (many try to figure God out with their head)Jeremiah 29:12-13;
2. Many are frustrated because they have not embraced the ways of applying the scripture to their situation. Acts 8:26-32 He had knowledge he could read but he had no understanding. He could not take hold of what he was reading until he had understanding.
3. Prayer is a means of getting understanding about the particulars in your life. Daniel 2:19; James 1:5 Ask the Lord what must you do at this point to come out of your situation? What do you require of me to do? Did I miss something? Or did you stop short of your intended goal.
